Flowers April-May; female flowers 2 together with 3 short styles;
Fruits acorn 1.5-2 cm long, 1 cm in diameter; narrowly ellipsoid; mucronate; brown; slightly pubescent at apex; paired on a short peduncle; cup flat, scaly, 1 cm wide, covering 1/4 of nut; basal scar prominent, 3 mm wide; maturing in 1 year;
