Leaves

7-18 cm x 2-6; coriaceous; lanceolate, sometimes oblong or elliptic; apex acute or acuminate, aristate, often curving; base rounded or cuneate; margin entire, thick but not revolute, undulate; hairless above; hairles beneath or glabrate, with tufts of fasciculate hairs at axils, without glandular trichomes; 9-14 vein pairs, flat or slightly prominent adaxially, raised beneath; epidermis slightly papillose; petiole 0.9-3 cm long, glabrous.

Flowers
Fruits acorn ovoid, glabrous, 1.4-1.8 cm long, included 1/3 to 1/4 in cup; cup halfround, scales smooth, flat, appressed; mature next year from September to November.
