-- In 1926 Nakai had described this taxon as a hybrid between Q. aliena and Q. crispula (mongolica); but Q. pellucida is also present in Bhutan where Q. crispula is absent, so Kitamura in 1974 considered it was a variety or rather a form of Q. aliena.
