Leaves 7-13 x 3-5 cm; oblong-elliptic to rarely oboval; subleathery; apex acuminate; base narrowly rounded or cuneate; shiny green, glabrous above; whitish yellow, densely stellate hairy beneath; margin serrate apically 3/4; 13-16 vein pairs, prominent below, flat or slightly raised above; petiole 1.5-2 cm long, glabrous; 
Flowers 3-4 styles short, connate at their base;
Fruits acorn subglobose or broadly ovoid, 1.5 cm long, 1.2 cm in diameter, slightly flattened at apex; glabrous; basal scar broad, raised; enclosed 1/3 to 1/2 by cup; cup 8 mm long, 1.5 cm wide, whitish tomentose outside, 6-8 concentric rings with dentate rim; maturing in 2 years,
