Miscellaneous

-- Species endemic to Lebanon; it was treated in different ways according to Authors; first considered as a synonym of Q. lanuginosa Willd. var. pinnatifida Gmelin, then as a probable hybrid between Q. cerris and Q. pubescens (Govaerts & Frodin 1998), and other treatments that are just as unsatisfactory, this species is today placed by the Lebanese Authors (J. Stephan, P. Teeny 2017) as a true species, closely related to Q. pubescens but differing from it in the habitat in more humid zones, the cups and above all the leaves;
