Fruits acorn ovate or ellipsoid, 1.8-2 cm long, 0.6-1.2 cm in diameter; mucronate, brown, hairless; short stalk, sometimes sessile; halfround cup 1-1.5 cm in diameter, enclosing only base of nut or to 1/3, with oval lanceolate, appressed scales;
