Leaves 5-10 x 2-4 cm; semi-evergreen, leathery; narrowly oblong to oboval; very variable in all their features; colour mostly bluish green; at first densely pubescent beneath; entire or with 8-11 mucronate teeth each side, smaller than in the type (Q.infectoria); numerous parallel secondary veins; no sinusal veins; tertiary veins thin, regular; petiole 1-2 cm long;

Fruits acorn 3 cm long, 1/2 enclosed by cup; cup to 2 cm in diameter; peduncle frequently absent, or very short (less than 2 cm) and thin; cup with thin wall and appressed gibbose scales;
