(5.2-) 9-15 cm x 1.7-4.5; elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate ou seldom oblanceolate; thinly coriaceous; glossy adaxially, pale green beneath, both sides hairless; apec acuminate ; base cuneate; margin not undulate, distinctly serrate in the apical half, with 9-12 teeth each side; midrib slightly raised adaxially, prominent beneath, as for the (7-) 10-13 veins pairs at an angle of 40-45° from the midrib; tertiary veins visible on both surfaces; petiole 0.4-1 cm long, whitish hairy when young, then glabrescent;

Flowers female catkins 0.5-1.4 cm long, tomentose at first, glabrescent.
Fruits

acorn 2.5 cm long x 1.5 cm in diameter, ovoid-ellipsoid, sessile, apex flattened, sparsely hairy; stylopodium 4 mm long; basal scar flat, 0.8 cm in diameter; cup obconical 1.5 cm in diameter x 1.2 cm high, with 6-9 rings showing an entire margin, enclosing 1/3 of nut;

Bark, twigs and
buds

young twigs nearly glabrous, except near the terminal bud, 1-1.2 mm thick, sometimes sulcate; old twigs glabrous, lenticellate; stipules linear, 3-5 mm long, deciduous, hairy.

-- Very similar to Q. langbianensis s. str. but differs in having the leaf margin serrate in the apical 1/2 (vs serrate in the apical 1/3), shorter petioles 0.4-1 cm (vs 1-2 cm) and a basal scar flat (vs convex).
