Leaves oboval or oblong; deciduous; apex obtuse, mucronate; base cordate; margin entire or with few teeth near apex, slightly revolute, sometimes crisped; shiny above with scattered stellate hairs; paler beneath with greyish stellate hairs; 8-9 vein pairs, anastomosed, prominent beneath; petiole ca 5-9 mm long, densely stellate pubescent;
Flowers male catkins 2.5-3.5 cm long, lax, stellate hairy; anthers hairless weakly exerted; female inflorescence 1-2.5 cm long, 2-4 flowered;
